Discover the forum discussion “cities and climate change”! |
This forum offers a unique platform to explore urban perspectives on climate adaptation. Looking at cities is important when thinking about climate change adaptation for various reasons, for instance, due to the high complexity of the systems operating within and servicing a city (such as water, energy, and food availability). Since adaptation strategies must be tailored to specific local contexts, it's crucial to integrate local knowledge and actively involve local authorities and stakeholders.
By registering, you can participate in six case studies, sharing your valuable work and learning from the experiences of others. Cities and climate change – Agora (agoracommunity.org) | Agora provides two “Digital Academies” to support citizens and stakeholders to access open-source climate data for adaptation and tackle climate change disinformation. |
Access and use climate data, risk and adaptation tools |
This tool is designed to make scientific and high-quality information available to citizens and stakeholders, helping them better understand complex data sets and how to use it. The academy includes inventories to explore climate information, learning modules on how to read, interpret and effectively use climate-related information and a section on citizen science, where users can flag existing initiatives and good practices at local and European levels. |
| |
Against climate change disinformation |
This tool is designed to provide solid information on climate change. Based on scientific evidence, it identifies and addresses the main fake news on this topic and provides citizens with the tools to tackle them. The academy includes a section on climate narratives to learn how to debunk the most common fake news and myths, a section with learning modules on the two key topics of climate disinformation and media literacy, and finally a collection of trustful resources. |
The gamified mobile app aims to support the education of citizens on climate change adaptation and counter disinformation campaigns through an entertaining and engaging approach. |
| The Digital Handbook is an interactive multimedia platform that will gather a collection of the lessons learned by project, as well as any other reports produced throughout the roll out of project activities. |

HIGHLIGHTS: UPCOMING EVENTS |

Adaptation AGORA co-creation workshops
In anticipation of our final co-creation workshops across Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Germany, we have engaged deeply with local communities through a series of focused discussions and events. In the past months we have engaged with stakeholders and more specifically with citizens in 17 focus groups and three special events across the four pilot regions. Diverse groups, including workers, multicultural communities, youth, and vulnerable populations were involved. Our recent discussions have been key to tailor local climate adaptation strategies that really focus on what specific groups need and how to engage them.
We are now setting up co-creation workshops in each of the 4 pilot regions for the coming months. There, we will put these ideas into action, create effective solutions together and delve deeper in the unique needs and perspectives of citizens and stakeholders to ensure their effective participation. These workshops will gather diverse voices - bringing together citizens, civil society, academics, experts, and policymakers - fostering a rich, multidisciplinary exchange of ideas to ensure everyone's included and we make meaningful progress together.

| Adaptation Agora to the “Festival della Meteorologia”
In the period 14-17 November 2024, Adaptation AGORA will be present at the Festival della Meteorologia in Rovereto, Italy. CIMA will organize citizen science activities. The participants, walking in Rovereto, will collect data related to the perception of temperature, water and humidity in the urban environment. The data will be acquired by the so called “Meteotrackers” and visualized in specific online tools. At the end of the data collection activity, there will be a discussion highlighting the best practices to mitigate and to adapt to the climate change.
