On June 26th, the Adaptation AGORA project contributed to the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO) 2025 in Rotterdam by participating in the session, “Bridging Knowledge and Practice: A Deep Dive into Regional Climate Resilience,” organized and hosted by the Pathways2Resilience project and ICLEI Europe.
Within this session, which aimed to explore how expert knowledge can be effectively translated for regional and local governments, Enora Bruley (University of Geneva) presented the Adaptation AGORA “Roadmap to scale citizen engagement.” The presentation was a starting point to discuss how can strategic frameworks and expert knowledge like this be communicated and delivered to city/regional practitioners to support practical adaptation decision and action?
The interactive discussion with regional practitioners yielded clear and invaluable insights for the future development and dissemination of Adaptation AGORA outcomes.
Some of the key messages convened by participants:
– Adapt, don’t add new tools or frameworks, but need support in tailoring existing frameworks to local contexts.
– To effectively apply this knowledge, practitioners stressed the need of practical support such as training, strong partnerships, and real resources.
– Foster citizen engagement in the political agenda by finding the right “entry point” to navigate the complex landscape of adaptation governance.
These rich discussions are crucial for ensuring the Adaptation AGORA outputs are developed as practical, supportive tools that bridge the science-practice gap. We thank again Pathways2Resilience, ICLEI Europe, and all the practitioners who shared their time and expertise. To know more about the event, visit the website: https://urbanresilienceforum.eu/
